Antonia J. Krahl works on social science research methodology with a special interest in multimethod and mixed methods research. Her substantive fields are architectural, urban and housing sociology focussing on the interaction between the built environment and the social. In this context, her focus lies on appropriate research methods of the specific inter- and transdisciplinary field of research, which takes into account the materiality of the specific research object and derives methodological consequences.

Antonia J. Krahl studied Empirical Political and Social Research at the University of Stuttgart and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. She is pursuing her doctorate in sociology with focus on mixed methods at the Bauhaus University Weimar as part of the interdisciplinary young researchers' group "Social Housing Provision in Growing Urban Regions: Urban Planning and Legal Perspectives" and received a doctoral scholarship from the Hans Böckler Foundation. Until 2020, she also worked as a research assistant in the Department of Architecture and Housing Sociology at the University of Stuttgart. She was awarded a doctoral scholarship from the Bauhaus University Weimar for the years 2020/21 and has been a research assistant in the Department of Sociology and Social Research Methods at the University of Stuttgart since October 2021. In addition to teaching methodology in the field of qualitative and mixed methods research, she most recently worked on the projects “Where do I want to live? Understanding the housing decision-making processes of young adults” (funded by Ministerium für Ernährung, Ländlichen Raum und Verbraucherschutz Baden-Württemberg) and “Researching Housing: Methodological approaches and practical reflections on Qualitative Research Methods” (funded by Wüstenrot Foundation).
