Vortrag von Gregor Betz am 1. Juli 2019: Consensus, Polarization and Democratic Decision-Making - A Computational Philosophy Perspective

1. Juli 2019 /

Im Rahmen des Forschungskolloquiums "Ausgewählte Probleme der vergleichenden Demokratieforschung" von Prof. Dr. André Bächtiger

Zeit und Ort: Montag, 1. Juli 2019 | 17:30 Uhr | Breitscheidstraße 2 | Raum M 2.31

In this talk, I pursue three aims: 1. to give an overview of models of social belief dynamics which may inform the norms of public deliberation; 2. to explore, by using a computational model, the linkage between argument-induced consensus and polarization; 3. to argue that we ought to re-consider the role of consensus and the function of deliberation in democratic policy-making.
